If your axis shutters and will not move unless moved by another force, that sounds like your acceleration is set too high. Lower the acceleration until it works well, then lower it a bit more to have a margin of safety.

IF that didn't work, try swapping the X and Y drivers. That way you will pinpoint if the issue is the driver. If the proplem persists, then there may be an issue with the motor itself.

The X and Y drivers can be easily swapped by swapping only the motor wires.

- Remove the x-axis motor wires from the X driver.
- Remove the Y motor wires from the Y driver.
- Insert the X motor wires into the Y driver.
- Insert the Y motor wires into the X driver.

Now the Y-axis will move the gantry. Test the Gantry movement by moving the Y axis using the up and down arrow keys (mach3).

I have one of your smaller stepper motors running my X AXIS bridge crane and if it is moved to fast the stepper motor sounds like it is skipping steps will the 651oz stepper motor require a different power supply and controler?

The NEMA 25 motor uses a different current than other motors. Make sure when you test the NEMA 25 motor, the current setting is at 2.43.

The motor was tested on the same axes were the others work but one of the NEMA 24 425 Oz motors dose not turn just jitters.

For the NEMA 34 stepper motor with a maximum current of 6 amps, 18 AWG wire would technically be sufficient. According to the American Wire Gauge (AWG) standard, 18 AWG wire can handle up to around 10 amps of current in chassis wiring and around 16 amps in power transmission. If you are considering running a very long length of cable from the driver to the stepper motor, you may want to consider using 16 AWG.

As for the spindle, this wire gauge is well-suited. There are three phase shifts, each at 120 degrees and each conductor is carrying only 1/3 of the power. At 220v, 2200 watts / 220 V = 10 amps. 1/3 of 10 amps is 3.333 amps, so each conductor will be have a load of 3.33 amps.

Whenever they are turned on, cell phones communicate at infrequent intervals with a nearby base station even when they are not being used for a call. I have a blacktooth laser engraver. The Y Axis stepper motor needs to be replaced. Can you please provide me with the information I would need to replace this motor.

The video showing the hookup of the large motors showed a sequence that was not correct, or I totally misread what was recommended. I hooked the first motor up that way and it would only go in one direction in a very jerky mode. I confirmed that i had hooked it up the way the video showed, disconnected the wiring that runs through to the motor and reconnected it, thinking maybe a cold solder joint was the problem. No good. I finally went to the motor page that showed a different connection pattern. I tried the one that the motor page said to do, and it works smoothly and in the right direction now.
