Current Solution

The terminals of U, V and W from the VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) connects to the three coils (first three pins of the connector) of the spindle. The 4th pin in the spindle is typically not connected; however, bring a wire from the PE (Protective Earth or Earth Ground) from the VFD and connect it to one of the screws of the connector on the spindle. This will ground the body of the spindle.

Additional Information:
The winding in your motor is start connected, U, V & W are the 3-phases of the motor and the 4th one is the common. Same as star connection.

What length of wire do you recommend for the black toe (2'x4') between the spindle and VFD?
The length of the cable from the VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) to the actual spindle should be about the same as the z-axis cable from the z-axis motor to the z-axis driver which is recommended at 11 feet. This is locating the VFD about at the midpoint of the machine.

The spindle water inlet and outlet fittings are 1/4 Inside Diameter and 3/8 Outside Diameter.

whiteant the main board has a slot for some type of memory like an old SD card. What is that used for and how is it used?
You can have files in the SD card that you would wish to print rather than using the PC to store the files. Using replicator g, you should be able to load the file from your SD card, and print them accordingly.

For the NEMA 34 stepper motor with a maximum current of 6 amps, 18 AWG wire would technically be sufficient. According to the American Wire Gauge (AWG) standard, 18 AWG wire can handle up to around 10 amps of current in chassis wiring and around 16 amps in power transmission. If you are considering running a very long length of cable from the driver to the stepper motor, you may want to consider using 16 AWG.

As for the spindle, this wire gauge is well-suited. There are three phase shifts, each at 120 degrees and each conductor is carrying only 1/3 of the power. At 220v, 2200 watts / 220 V = 10 amps. 1/3 of 10 amps is 3.333 amps, so each conductor will be have a load of 3.33 amps.

I ordered the blacktooth laser cutter, there were only 4 red spade terminals, but the instructions pictures show that there should be more and would include blue spade terminals

For the 2.2kW Spindle you would need the ER20 1/2" Collet.

What is the minimum RPM for the 2.2 kW spindle? Info on spindle page says 0-24,000. Elsewhere in this knowledge base it says 6000. My edge finder has a1500 RPM limit.
The lowest Hz for a 2 pole 2.2kW spindle is 250 Hz. That works out to 15,000 RPM. If you need lower RPM, a separate spindle will be required. This is typical for industrial CNC machines where spindles are changed out to mill on different materials.

Does that mean the 2.2 kW spindle sold by BYCNC is a 2-pole, not a 4-pole? There don't seem to be specs on the website for the 2.2 kW spindle.

I currently have the 1.5 kW spindle from BYCNC and can run from 0-24000. 1500 is no problem. I never mill at that low of a speed, just use the edge finder to set the workpiece coordinates.

You will definitely want to adjust your debounce setting in mach3 if your emergency or limit switch is engaging.

There really isn't any specific brand. We purchase the components in a disparate fashion from China. I will product a video today that shows all of the components that we use and also offer the components on the website.

The type of wire that should be used between the spindle and the VFD (Variable Frequency Driver also called the inverter) should be of stranded type and we use between 18 and 16 AWG.

The total current is divided among the three coil wires, therefor a wire gauge of 16 should be sufficient.

Currently we use 20AWG 4 conductor.
