When you power up your VFD, you can go into the programming mode by pressing the program button. You can press the up and down arrows to move through the parameters. Press the set button to go into the parameter to see the value of that parameter. If you want to make changes to that parameter, change the value with the up and down arrows until the desired value is shown, and press the set button to accept the changes.

I have not come across this problem, but there may be USB, or firmware issues that you are experiencing. I would recommend going on the polabs website and using their support center (https://support.poscope.com/)and posing that question to them. Also, have you tried the ethernet port as an alternative to see if that helps?

Connecting drivers from a controller to the driver does not require relays. A controller typically has pins or terminals for Step and Direction. These terminals connect to the driver's Pulse and Direction terminals. For instance for the X axis: if you are connecting from the Mach3 USB controller, you would connect the XD (X axis Direction) terminal to the Driver's DIR+ terminal, and the XP (X axis Pulse) to theDriver's PUL+ terminal, and the GND from the controller to the PUL- and DIR- terminals.

You should have no problem connecting the Pokeys57CNC controller to the drivers of your machine as long as the drivers have step (Pulse or PUL) and direction (DIR) terminals. You will need the cable pack that is sold separately so you can connect the headers/connectors of the pokeys57cnc controller to the drivers using ribbon cables.

Yes, you can absolutely communicate with the Pokeys57CNC controller. The developer's website has various ways of control, including their poblock software, or directly programming using C#, or C++. I have tested the C# method for a job I did for Lockheed Martin and worked really well.

A traditional laser controller that is designed to control a laser is far better since you can take advantage of more sophisticated features like sweep for engraving, and automatic adjustment of laser intensity for acceleration and deceleration. The Mach3 USB controller can move the axes and turn the laser on and off, but intensity control and engraving are not an option.

I have not tried connecting a 110V spindle to a 220V VFD; however, the parameters in a 220V VFD do allow changes to the values for the spindle motor. If you do plan on connecting the 110V spindle to a 220V VFD, damages can occur, so I would not recommend it.

It is possible to wire this controller so a spindle can be turned on and off, but spindle speed would not be possible and would need to be controlled from the control panel. It is not recommended to use a laser controller to control a spindle as a laser controller is specifically made for lasers to control speed and intensity. A traditional CNC controller is best to be mated with a system that uses a spindle as there are more sophisticated machining operations that take into consideration the features of a tool (end mill, drill, surfacing tool, etc.).

Additional Information:
I would recommend creating a system, similar to the greenBull, where there are two gantries on a single table where one gantry houses a spindle and the other gantry houses a laser. Each gantry can use a disparate controller, but be mapped/calibrated/aligned to the same surface.

You should not have a problem with using this controller and having more than 500 lines of GCode. The 500-lines limitation is specific to licensing. If you are still having issues, make sure to confirm that you send the specific output you want to use to PORT 3. This is not mentioned in the video. If you are using OUT1 on the controller, make sure to remove that pin number from the Motor outputs (config -> ports & pins -> motor outputs) for the spindle line and set it up in the outputs (config -> ports & pins -> outputs).

I use this pendant on my machine and works quite well. If you have communication issues from the pendant to the dongle, there may be too much interference surrounding the dongle, and exposing the internal antenna works well. This is something I needed to do.

Yes, the greenLean can do the same type of machining as any other 3 axis CNC machine or CNC router. With 3D machining using a 3 axis CNC machine, 3D carvings can be done; however, no undercuts can be carved as the end mill (carving tool) is constantly perpendicular to the workpiece.

A 4th axis headstock and tailstock can be added to the machine for more precise 3D carvings and the greenLean can have these 4th axis units mounted within the structural ribs.

Si solo un eje se congela, ¿escuchas un sonido extraño del motor justo antes de que se congele? I am not sure of the resolution for the PWM output for spindle speed control. However, if you are worried about getting the exact speed you need, 8-bit will provide 256 levels of increments. This translates roughly to a change of 94 RPM from one increment to another. Remember to provide some inductance and shielding to the signal lines so you won't get fluctuations in speed.

You need to set up the homing/limits parameters. You can find this screen by clicking config->Homing/Limits. Make sure to wire the home switches on separate input terminals (i.e. X home switch on IN1, Y home switch on IN2, etc). You can add the limit switches to any of the IN terminals, even on the same IN terminals where the home switches are located.

The steps will be the motor natural steps multiplied by the microstepping = (200 x microstepping)

Lets say the microstepping is 1/2, then the steps per revolution is 200 x 2 = 400

So: 400 / (1/5)" = 400 / .2" = 2000 steps per inch

The driver will have a dip switch that will show the microstepping setting.

Make sure that the spindle motor output pin is not interfering with the signal. Go to config -> ports and pins -> motor outputs, at the bottom of the table, there will be a line for spindle. Make sure that spindle line item is disabled.

I disabled the spindle port and I am still only able to activate port 3 and get 24v and even there when I enter m5 the voltage bounces all over the place. The other outputs read all over the place whether they have been designated as the spindle on the spindle settings tab

If you are not able to get any indication that an input is working, make sure to set the port of the input to 3 and set the pin of the input to the input number on the board. If you are using proximity switches, make sure you are using an NPN type and you are setting the active low toggle depending on if the switch is set for normally open or normally closed operation. You will also want to make sure the switch is wired correctly for either normally open (in parallel, like a ladder), or normally closed (in series) and make sure the correct leads are used on the switch.

You will need to look for the parameter that controls the run frequency. The frequency can be controlled bu the panel, external terminals, or the RS485 TX/RX terminals (UART protocol). You will want to change that parameter so it uses the panel. If you are referring to the maximum panel dial frequency is only allowing 200-300 rpm, then look for the parameters to control the frequency.

For 200 RPM:
Hz = 200/60 = 3.33 Hz

For 300 RPM:
Hz = 300/60 = 5 Hz

Conversion to RPM:
If you ever find yourself yearning to reverse-engineer the process, the formula is as follows:

RPM = Hz × 60

Look for values that match somewhere between 3 and 5 in your frequency parameters and replace them with 400 to give you 24,000 RPM max.

Hi I have just set up my machine using a mach 3 USB board I can only get the Z to go in one direction Y and X are Ok I have check wiring and looked at video over and over what have I missed??

Most likely, the driver is not receiving the high or low signal for the direction terminals. The way direction works for an axis is the controller will output a high signal (5V) for one direction and low signal (0V) for the opposite direction. If the signal is always at one signal, say 5V, whether it is commanded in one direction or the other, then the axis will only move in that direction.

To solve this problem, make sure that the wiring is secure at both ends (from the controller to the driver). Also, make sure the Dir+ and DIR- are both wired correctly (i.e. the Dir- is connected to the signal gnd on the controller and the ZD is connected to Dir+ on the driver.

You can use a multimeter to determine the voltage at the ZD terminal by:
- setting the multimeter to DC voltage (the V with a straight line, or dashed line above the V)
- place the black lead on the gnd terminal
- place the red lead on the ZD terminal
- press the page up button and check the voltage
- press the page down button and check the voltage.

You should see the voltage change from 0V to 5V or vice versa.

The THC and the triggering of the plasma are actually two different functions of a controller. To trigger a plasma cutter, you can use one of the outputs of the Mach3 USB controller (out 1, 2, 3, or 4). That output can be connected to a relay that connects to the two wires that will trigger the plasma.

That depends on a few factors. In most cases, three 3.0 amp motors and drivers will not exceed 8.8 amps of available current. All of the motors would need to be at full torque to reach the 9 amps (3x3). This depends on the mechanical method you are using for each motor, and how you are using the machine. In most cases, only two motors are moving at a time (i.e. 3D carving where the X and Z are moving simultaneously and the y only moves to go to the next row). In traditional cutting profiles, only the x and y are moving simultaneously and the z-axis moves at the location it needs to start cutting the next layer.

With that said, it is ok to add an extra power supply if you feel you need more available current.

The outputs are independent of the PWM function of the controller. The PWM uses the ACM and AVI outputs from the controller to the VFD along with the 10V input from the VFD to the controller. The 10V input serves as an upper voltage reference for the PWM output. The PWM output is discrete and does not connect with the ON/OFF outputs 1-4 terminals. Did you try testing the outputs without using the AVI and ACM PWM function?

Motor 1 = X axis
Motor 2 = Y axis
Motor 3 = Z axis
Motor 4 = A axis
Motor 5 = B axis
Motor 6 = C axis
Motor 7 and 8 are two extra axes, D and E I would guess as I have never used them.

Yes, you can use 12VDC for the MAch3 USB controller at the 24V and DCM terminals. I have not tested using 12VDC in conjunction with the ACM and AVI terminals (PWM output) to control the spindle speed. PWM typically requires a reference voltage (from the VFD) and it's own voltage to produce the PWM signal. I am not sure if 12VDC is sufficient for the PWM. I have tested the inputs with 12VDC and they work fine.

Adding more fans will require more power from the power supply. Each fan should have the amps that the fan draws. Add the total amps from the three fans and add one amp for the pump and you will have the total power requirement. The 12V 2amp power supply that accompanies the spindle cooling kit will probably be insufficient for the additional two fans.

No, ground from the pokeys57cnc controller should not be required. Your VFD should have two terminals that will turn on and off the spindle (forward, or stop). These two terminals simply need to be connected to each other to invoke that operation. In the VFD manual, you will see a schematic with a normally open switch symbol between these two terminals. The onboard relay on the pokeys57CNC would be a great feature of the board to connect to the two terminals of the VFD.

The wiring from the spindle to the VFD will depend on the power rating on the spindle. For a 1.5 or 2.2kw spindle, you can use 18/4 cable.

The 8 wire motors need to be wired in bipolar parallel configuration. The wiring is as follows: Red and Blue to A+, Yellow and Black to A-, White and Brown to B+ and Orange and Green to B-. To find the wiring for the 4 wire motors, the wiring is Red to A+, Orange to A-, Blue to B+ and Green to B-.

Are you referring to an alarm output from a closed-loop driver? If so, you can use any of the pokeys57cnc inputs (i.e. axis limit input) that will serve as a way to stop the machine when the driver has exhausted all attempts to achieve the commanded position.

Do you have an oscilloscope? You will be able to see the PWM signal and determine if the output is correct. Make sure that you are using the 10V from the VFD as the voltage reference for the 10V terminal on the Mach3 USB controller. The 10V terminal is an input, not an output on the Mach3 USB controller. The 10V is the top voltage signal level that the Mach3 USB controller uses for the PWM signals 100% duty cycle.

To bring the machine to the origin, click the "Ref all Home" button. The machine will move to the limit switches. If the axes are not zeroed automatically, you can zero them by pressing the zero button for each axis in the digital readout (DRO) section.
